Comunite provides the necessary tools and training for organisations to be self sufficient in the world wide web. As every context is different, we dedicate time to learning from each organisation that we work with so we can best address their needs.

During initial investigations, we explore possible existing local alternatives in the place that the organisation works in order to ensure sustainability. We then work with the organisation to determine the best solutions and begin the implementation process. We know that in theory this sounds good, but that in practice technology can be prohibitively expensive, which is why we mainly use open source solutions. These alternatives are not only free, but also come with extensive resources in various languages, accessible to anyone.
We customise and provide practical training sessions to organisations, focusing on specific and practical exercises, and ensuring that solutions are tested and revised for optimal usability and ease by the people who will use them most.
As we know that people learn technology by engaging actively with it, we then allow for a testing period so that the organisation can familiarise itself with new technical environments and troubleshoot before we revise the situation again.
Comunite also provides constant support upon completion of all of our projects. We offer comprehensive customized support packages to cover future needs so that organisations can rest assured that Comunite will provide quick solutions to any potential issue that arises.
From investigation to actual implementation and support we close the gap between people and technology. We believe that access to cutting edge and free technology should be available to humanitarian organisations anywhere in the world. The internet not only provides a cheaper solution to communicate and share information, it can also connect people around the world in real time. Not for profit organisations can benefit from it in infinite ways, from fundraising during natural disasters in Chile and Haiti to creating awareness about HIV and malaria in Mozambique and Angola.
Our team has a wide range of experience in a variety of contexts, including in-house work for not for profit organisations, consultancies carried out remotely, and action directly in the field. This means we have an excellent understanding of the very different opportunities and challenges that these various situations provide and we are flexible in our ability to meet the diverse needs of our clients.
Stories from the field DVD
We are in the process of compiling videos and photographs from our experiences in the field, regional music and commentaries from people that we have worked with. This will be a testimonial dvd from all of our work closing the gap between people and technology.
This is work in progress and we would love to share it with you when it's done!
Take back power through IT
